TurnOut Magazine
Queensland Government, Emergency Services, Marketing Department The Marketing team required a new approach to the existing, disjointed and outdated internal design and communications. It was proposed that these documents could be consolidated into a single Magazine. ‘TurnOut’ was to be a modern, contemporary internal magazine where information could be distributed form one reliable source and properly reflected the end users. A challenge that was carefully considered was the remaining true to the established Visual ID with a limited budget and producing a high quality hardcopy and online publication. This was achieved by reducing the use of colour, headings, pullout boxes and replacing it with a crisp, clean, modern and legible publication using all the contemporary techniques of magazine design. Theme colour s sampled directly from the images helping tie the body copy, headings and images together without distraction. Simple, clear graphics were used in the creation of the masthead, contents page and page numbers. The use of master pages and style sheets ensured a clean, constant and easy to use and reproduce design that surpassed the clients original brief.
